What should happen during a fire suppression inspection?

 

1. The fire alarm is disabled (if applicable): 

All suppression systems are hooked up to the buildings fire alarm if the building has a fire alarm. As the fire suppression test involves setting off the systems mechanisms it is desirable to disable the fire alarm. 

2. The fire supression system is disabled:

The fire suppression system is immediately disabled, this will prevent the system from going off and making a big mess.

3. Information is recorded in the technicians log.

Such information will be location, serial number, type, year, last recharge, model... This is then entered into a database so that at your next fire inspection you  will be informed of some services that must be done and prepare for them.

4. Fire suppression system is maintained and tested.

The fusible links and applicable s hooks will be replaced in the system. Nozzles will be tested for airflow and be cleaned. If the system is pressure activated then a new pressurized cylinder will be replaced. The system pull-station is maintained. The system's mechanisms are then tested, from the pull-station and from the links, to assure proper activation and the system will be put back together and reset.

Requirements:

All fire suppression systems must have a welded hood, have a warning sticker on the hood, must be tested every 6 months, must have correct nozzle flow pertaining to each kitchen appliance under its respective nozzle.
